Baziège Town Hall

Located in the Lauragais region, just 20 minutes from Toulouse, Baziège offers its residents a dynamic living environment with a wide range of modern public services. Focusing its policy on social and sustainable activities, the town aims to modernize its infrastructures, optimizing user comfort while meeting the requirements of the Tertiary Decree.

The challenge

The town of Baziège is located just 20 km from Toulouse, in the Occitanie region. It stands out for the dynamism of its local services and the high quality of life it offers its residents, through a rich economic and social hub.

Its municipal policy, managed by Mayor Jean-François Roussel, is strongly focused on the environment, as illustrated by a series of actions scheduled for 2022: the reduction of light pollution by partially extinguishing public lighting at night, and the distribution of an information campaign on eco-actions for residents.

2023 is intended to be a transitional year, combining sustainable commitment, social proximity and energy efficiency in tertiary buildings providing the town’s public services. And it’s the school canteen that’s in the crosshairs: why, and above all how, does the use of this building, which benefits from recent construction standards, lead to such high energy consumption, and such a complex level of comfort in use?

Our answer

Through the Plug&Play package specifically designed for buildings, we connected the BLPredict platform to the Enedis electricity meter in the dining hall. In this way, we are able to collect all the data flows feeding this collective building’s electrical resources on a daily basis.

Deployment

Some benefits

Only 4 months into deployment, and we’re already able to carry out a consumption audit, including a flow analysis, and a data analysis of the existing system.

Detection of power consumption irregularities

Understanding the relationship between daily hourly consumption patterns and the weather

Understanding seasonal operations, weekends and school vacations

A recommendation to adjust the subscription formula for an estimated gain of €800/year

Identification of a potential air conditioning/heating system management problem

What next?

This initial analysis phase has enabled the local authority to gain a detailed understanding of how its equipment operates, and how its electricity consumption is actually used. We will now implement priority tests aimed at improving overall consumption to optimize management of the school canteen.

With a view to optimizing the energy performance of the town’s services, the Mairie de Baziège has asked us to extend our analysis of the electricity subscription formula to other sites in their building stock. To spend less, consume better and improve user comfort!
